BOISE, Idaho (AP) _ US Ecology Inc. (ECOL) on Thursday reported a first-quarter loss of $298.1 million, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier.

The Boise, Idaho-based company said it had a loss of $9.52 per share. Earnings, adjusted for asset impairment costs and non-recurring costs, came to 12 cents per share.

The radioactive and hazardous waste services company posted revenue of $240.7 million in the period.

US Ecology shares have fallen 45% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $32.03, a decline of 44% in the last 12 months.
