Valora takes over five railway station bookshops in Northern Bavaria
Valora is further expanding its portfolio of Press & Books stores in Germany by acquiring five railway station bookshops from the Wuttke family in Northern Bavaria. The shops will continue to be operated by the current staff as Press & Books outlets. This acquisition highlights Valora's leading position in the German railway station bookshop market.
The Wuttke family's five sales outlets are located at Deutsche Bahn's railway stations in Bamberg, Bayreuth, Haßfurt, Hof and Kulmbach. The acquisition on 1 September 2021 is subject to approval by the Bundeskartellamt. The parties have agreed to maintain silence about the conditions of the transaction.
With this acquisition, Valora is reinforcing its leading position in the German station bookshop market with some 160 sales outlets and its partnership with Deutsche Bahn. This expansion of the store portfolio of Press & Books also confirms Valora's conviction that the railway station bookshop business will remain attractive in future.
