From Monday 1 November our teams will be returning to normal volumes of planned maintenance work on the electricity network.

Over the past 18 months Auckland has experienced five Alert Level 3 or 4 lockdowns, with the majority of Aucklanders working and schooling from home.  During these times we significantly reduced the amount of planned maintenance work on the network, by around two-thirds, to minimise the impacts of power outages on our customers.

As a result, we are facing a growing backlog of projects and maintenance that are essential for the long-term reliability and safety of the network, as well as for keeping up with continuing growth and development in Auckland.  It's important that we now get this work back underway.

We understand and appreciate the inconvenience that a planned outage may cause as many people will still be based at home. However, progressing with planned outages now, when we can give customers notice, does mean that we reduce the likelihood of unexpected outages when customers have no time to plan in advance.

As we return to normal volumes of planned work we will always consider ways to reduce the impact of power outages and continue to balance the short and long-term reliability, maintenance and growth of the Auckland network against the impact on customers.

Thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation.
