Vestas Wind Systems AS said Wednesday that it has signed an agreement that will see LM Wind Power design and manufacture blades for Vestas's V172-7.2 megawatt wind turbines.

LM Wind Power, a subsidiary of General Electric Co., will supply the blades from its existing global production footprint and production is scheduled to start in the second half of 2024, it said.

Vestas said that sharing manufacturing operations across the renewables industry ensures sites aren't sitting idle and creates a flexible, scalable and efficient supply chain.

Wednesday's deal is an extension of an existing agreement between the companies where LM Wind Power manufactures V150 blades in Brazil, Vestas added.
