SOUTHBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) _ Virtusa Corp. (VRTU) on Tuesday reported fiscal second-quarter earnings of $8.8 million.

On a per-share basis, the Southborough, Massachusetts-based company said it had net income of 25 cents. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to 53 cents per share.

The results matched Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was also for earnings of 53 cents per share.

The provider of information technology services posted revenue of $317.2 million in the period, surpassing Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $315.1 million.

Virtusa shares have risen 10% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Tuesday, shares hit $50.04, an increase of 28% in the last 12 months.
