SAN FRANCISCO (AP) _ Visa Inc. (V) on Thursday reported fiscal first-quarter net income of $3.27 billion.

On a per-share basis, the San Francisco-based company said it had net income of $1.46.

The results met Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 13 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was also for earnings of $1.46 per share.

The global payments processor posted revenue of $6.05 billion in the period, missing Street forecasts. Eleven analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $6.06 billion.

Visa shares have climbed 11% since the beginning of the year, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index has increased nearly 2%. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $207.83, an increase of 51% in the last 12 months.
