VAN BUREN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) _ Visteon Corp. (VC) on Thursday reported first-quarter net income of $16 million, after reporting a loss in the same period a year earlier.

The Van Buren Township, Michigan-based company said it had profit of 56 cents per share.

The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of eight analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 33 cents per share.

The auto parts supplier posted revenue of $746 million in the period, which also beat Street forecasts. Six analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $709.7 million.

Visteon shares have declined 1% since the beginning of the year. The stock has more than doubled in the last 12 months.
