Nick McAlister, Senior Director, EMEA Channel & Partner Go To Market, VMware

It's almost time! In just a few weeks we will open the virtual doors to VMworld 2021, and we're so excited to share what we have in store with our partners from all corners of the globe.

Every year we carefully choose a theme for VMworld which reflects our ambition, and this time around we will be challenging attendees to Imagine That. To imagine a world where you have the flexibility to welcome any change and take advantage of the opportunities that it provides.

For so many of our customers, this is a world that simply cannot exist without the support of partners to help them capitalise on the rapid evolution of modern applications, cloud and security. Particularly as they prepare for a future that promises more distributed workforces, growing cyber threats, and an increasing reliance on applications and digital services to meet changing user expectations.

The eagled-eyed of you will have noticed we are positioning VMworld 2021 as the premier multi-cloud event. It's no secret that we see the future in multi-cloud. It's also no secret that partners are right at the epicenter of that future, which is why you can expect to see and hear even more from our leadership team about the power of the connected cloud ecosystem to create 'customer for life' value, and the huge services opportunity that multi-cloud presents to partners.

With that in mind, I thought I'd take a moment to pull out the sessions that are simply not to be missed for you, our partner community:

Diaries at the ready!

  1. I can't start without introducing you to our new leadership team of Raghu Raghuram, CEO and Sumit Dhawan, President. Both are hugely partner-centric and big ambassadors for the immense value the channel can realise for so many of our customers. Alongside our SVP of Partner and Commercial Sales, Sandy Hogan, they will be laying out their vision for the future of multi-cloud technology, the new opportunities it provides, and why VMware is committed to partners' success.

Make sure to mark your calendars with their session - Worldwide Partner General Session [PAR3361] - to learn why you are uniquely positioned to help customers drive value from multi-cloud.

  • How to enable increasingly distributed and hybrid workforces is one of the key challenges customers are facing today. So don't miss the session on how to recognize opportunities to support customers with this challenge and bring in additional revenue for the business through VMware's Anywhere Workspace solution.

Casey Powell, Senior Product Manager, EUC, VMware and Adalberto Irizarry, Digital Workspace Franchise Lead at VMware will be discussing how partners can help customers deliver secure, frictionless experiences for the Anywhere Workforce in their session - Empower Today's Anywhere Workforce with the VMware Anywhere Workspace [PAR3161].

  • Modern applications is a huge part of the future Anywhere Workforce and consequently an absolute priority for VMware and our partners. So, I would make this session - Build a Compelling Modern Apps and Managed Application Cloud Business [APP1080] - a priority. Hosted by Gerrit Lehr, Cloud Solutions Strategist at VMware in collaboration with partner Francisco Romero, Head of Hybrid IaaS at TietoEVRY..
  • It's not all about the technology. Which is why the session - MSC Evolution Roadmap: Beyond Technical [PAR3210] - run by Bob Nash, Global Partner Practice Development Strategy at VMware is one of my top recommendations. Bob will be talking about why VMware MSCs are so important to building expertise and confidence to help prepare partners to step into a client's world and solve big business problems.
  • Earlier this year we launched VMware Cloud Universal, a flexible subscription that simplifies the purchase and consumption of VMware multi-cloud infrastructure and management services. This session - The Value for VMware Partners to Lead with VMware Cloud Universal [PAR3173] - does what it says on the tin: demonstrates the intrinsic value for partners in helping clients understand the value proposition of a flexible, convertible subscription programme.
  • And you can't attend an event about multi-cloud without tuning into a session about GAIA-X, a secure, federated system that aims to meet the highest standards on interoperability, reversibility, portability and data security for the next generation of European data spaces. As this space develops, partners must take the opportunity to learn how the initiative could help them innovate in their delivery of services and technology, as well as add a new specialism to their consultancy.

Join Francesco Bonfiglio from Gaia-X and Joachim Murat, Civilian Government Industry Director EMEA at VMware in their session - Ready for the Gaia-X revolution? Let's talk about the acceleration of the European data-driven economy [MCL2699].

  • Last but not least, I'm going to do a quick, shameless plug of my own session - Empowering the Partner Ecosystem for Long-Term Success [PAR3157] - where I will be joined by Ailsa Britain, Senior Director Commercial EMEA, to discuss the wealth of opportunities for partners in the Commercial segment and specifically the VMware Cloud proposition.

There's still time to register

I have pulled out just seven of the many sessions taking place at VMworld 2021 that are designed to demonstrate just how important a role our partner ecosystem plays in VMware's future and what we can do to provide you, our partners, with new technologies, skillsets, ways of thinking and most importantly, opportunities.

If you haven't already, mark VMworld 2021 in your calendar - from October 6th-7th, online around the globe - register for the event, and sign up to the sessions that most inspire you. Hopefully, this blog has given you a taste of the great presentations, discussions and learnings we have planned.

See you there!
