Vodacom Group Ltd. on Monday reported a decline in net profit and said that it is focused on delivering its growth targets.

South Africa's largest mobile operator by subscribers posted a net profit for the six months ended Sept. 30 of 8.87 billion rand ($578.7 million) compared with ZAR9.27 billion for the same period a year earlier.

Operating profit fell to ZAR14.06 billion from ZAR14.47 billion, it said. Vodacom said it added 6.2 million customers in the period.

Revenue for the first half rose to ZAR49.86 billion from ZAR47.84 billion for the year-prior period.

The board has declared an interim dividend of ZAR4.20 up from ZAR4.15.

The company expects mid-single digit service revenue growth and mid-to-high-single digit operating profit growth for the medium term, over the next three years.
