WOLFSBURG (dpa-AFX) - The Volkswagen Group will present its sales figures for the past year on Tuesday. After the VW, Audi and Porsche brands have already reported a decline in deliveries, there is likely to be a noticeable decline across the group as a whole. By contrast, Seat/Cupra, Skoda and Lamborghini in particular have recently seen an increase.

In 2023, the group had delivered more than 9.2 million vehicles of all brands, significantly more than a year earlier. In the first nine months of 2024, however, there was already a drop of almost 3 percent. For the year as a whole, the number could now fall below nine million.

The VW core brand in particular is suffering from high costs and low capacity utilization at its plants. Shortly before Christmas, the company and the union agreed on a restructuring program after a long struggle. Technical capacity at VW's German plants is to be reduced by over 700,000 vehicles. 35,000 jobs will be cut by 2030. The job cuts are to be implemented without layoffs./fjo/DP/nas
