Volkswagen wants to double its US market share by 2030, Antlitz told the Reuters news agency at the World Economic Forum in Davos on Thursday. "To achieve this, we need additional initiatives." Antlitz did not give details of possible investments. However, he referred to the construction of a battery production facility at the plant in Chattanooga, Tennessee. "The investments will continue. If you want to double your market share, you have to do even more locally."
Volkswagen feels like an integral part of the US economy, Antlitz emphasized. Even before US President Donald Trump took office, VW had announced its intention to expand its business in the USA. At the same time, the market share in Europe is to be defended and business in China is to gain strength.
