NEW YORK (AP) _ Warner Bros. Discovery, Inc. (WBD) on Tuesday reported first-quarter net income of $456 million.

The New York-based company said it had net income of 69 cents per share.

The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 12 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 56 cents per share.

The operator of cable TV channels such as TLC and Animal Planet posted revenue of $3.16 billion in the period, also topping Street forecasts. Eleven analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $3.14 billion.
