Partnership supports ongoing programs and research to break mental health stigmas

Columbus, OH (October 11, 2021) - Washington Prime Group is proud to announce its donation, courtesy of a partnership with Shelby's Sugar Shop™ locations, of $10,000 to support On Our Sleeves®, Nationwide Children Hospital's national movement to raise awareness around children's mental health. The check was presented to Nationwide Children's Hospital leaders in front of Shelby Sugar Shop in Polaris Fashion Place in honor of World Mental Health Day, which is October 10, 2021.

Data shows that 1 in 5 children suffer with a mental health disorder, and suicide is the second leading cause of death among young people. On Our Sleeves is a program that takes action to combat those sobering statistics by providing free access to resources and education around children's mental health. The initiative also connects families across the country to local trusted providers.

The partnership between Shelby's Sugar Shop and On Our Sleeves reinforced their shared values. Shelby's values promote acceptance and inclusion and remind everyone that we are a lot more alike than we are different. Shelby's Sugar Shop is located in town centers in Colorado, Florida, Kentucky, Ohio and Washington.

"Our donation courtesy of Shelby's Sugar Shop signifies Washington Prime Group's commitment to raising awareness of mental health throughout our communities," says Jennifer Moretti, senior vice president, Chief Activation Officer at Washington Prime Group. "We are proud to support the critical mission of On Our Sleeves, a national movement that is making significant strides in helping to eliminate stigmas affiliated with child mental health and provide access to important resources for children, their families and advocates."

"We were so proud to launch such a fun and sweet partnership with Shelby's this year," said Amanda Dove, Director, Corporate Partnerships, Nationwide Children's Hospital. "Shelby's Sugar Shop raised vital funds to get children's mental health resources into the hands of parents and educators throughout America. Additionally, Shelby herself became a strong advocate for children's mental health by speaking up for kids everywhere and helping them have access to tools for their mental wellbeing. We are so thankful and look forward to continuing to work with Shelby's Sugar Shop as we all work to break stigmas around children's mental health."
