VAUGHAN, Ontario (AP) _ Waste Connections Inc. (WCN) on Wednesday reported fourth-quarter profit of $130.7 million.

On a per-share basis, the Vaughan, Ontario-based company said it had profit of 50 cents. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were 68 cents per share.

The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of seven analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 62 cents per share.

The solid waste services provider posted revenue of $1.4 billion in the period, also surpassing Street forecasts. Six analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $1.34 billion.

For the year, the company reported profit of $204.7 million, or 78 cents per share. Revenue was reported as $5.45 billion.

Waste Connections expects full-year revenue of $5.8 billion.

Waste Connections shares have fallen 4% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $98.24, a drop of 6% in the last 12 months.
