Waste Connections swung to a profit in the latest quarter, beating analysts' expectations on adjusted profit and revenue.
The waste services company reported second-quarter net income attributable to common shareholders of $177 million, compared with a loss of $227 million a year earlier.
On a per share basis, the loss was 68 cents. Adjusted earnings were 81 cents a share. Analysts polled by FactSet expected 78 cents a share.
Revenue was $1.53 billion, up from $1.3 billion a year earlier. Analysts were expecting $1.5 billion.
