Milan, 9th August 2022 - Webuild - work does not come to a halt in August (the traditional holiday period in Italy) where the group's construction sites in Italy, from north to south will ensure the progress of the infrastructure projects on which Webuild is currently engaged. They consist in 27 major works that Webuild is building in partnership with a supply chain made up of 8,000 companies and that, in the wake of the Genoa Model, will help give a new look to the country, from Brenner to Sicily, making it more connected, faster and more sustainable. Webuild in Italy counts 16,000 direct and indirect employees of which about 9,000 concentrated in the north and about 7,000 in central and southern Italy, including the islands.

Activities continue during August at the construction sites of the Jonica State Road, in Calabria, where Webuild is building the Third Megalot, 38km extending through the province of Cosenza. The work in progress is concentrated on the construction of the viaducts of the first section between Sibari and Trebisacce and on the various work fronts of the Trebisacce Natural Tunnel.

In Sicily, in the construction sites of the Bicocca-Catenanuova railway line, work is concentrated on the raising and assembly of the viaduct over the Simeto river. The viaduct is 310 metres long with 5 double spans. Its structure has a total weight of 3,850 tons. The raising operations in this phase concern the first two spans and, in parallel, the assembly and finishing activities of the other two also continue.

In the north, in the construction sites of the Terzo Valico dei Giovi-Nodo di Genova, a project that involves more than 2,300 companies, works in August concentrate mainly on two different activites relating to the Genoa junction. Preparatory activities are planned for the expansion of a section of the Facchini Tunnel, the first tunnel of the Nodo coming from the north; the expansion will allow the transit of trains carrying new generation containers from the Port of Genoa. The adaptation of the Polcevera junction, again in the area of the Genoa junction, is also planned, where an experimental type of armament device will be installed and entirely made of prestressed reinforced concrete.

Most of the activites can be followed in real time through the corporate Webuild site, thanks to"Cantieri in Diretta", the first active communication project promoted by the Group, with the various areas where it operates guaranteeing an open window on the major ongoing projects in Italy in full respect of the privacy of the workers, thanks to systems that inhibit face recognition. There are 19 live webcams currently active, mounted inside the Webuild sites of the Terzo Valico dei Giovi, the Milan Metro 4, Line C of the Rome Metro, the Verona-Padova HS/HC line and the Bicocca-Catenanuova railway section. Other webcams will be activated shortly, at the construction sites of the HS Naples-Bari railway line and the Jonica State Road.

Webuild, a global player of reference for the construction of infrastructure for sustainable mobility, boasts a track record that includes the construction of over 13,600km of railways and metros and the excavation of approximately 2,400km of tunnels. Outside the domestic market, it is carrying out, among other works, major sections of the Grand Paris Express in France, hydroelectric projects to guarantee water and energy to large areas of Africa, the Middle East and Australia, road infrastructure projects for large areas of the United States.
