'Ephemeral by nature, like us, these monumental participatory cardboard constructions are destined to disappear. Their stake is, therefore, as much in the process, in the journey and in the collective experience they propose, as in their final forms. This 'suspended' bridge, inaccessible in essence, ultimately connects us to ourselves: An image of our relationship with the unspeakable', said Olivier Grossetête, the French artist and author of the Farnese Bridge.

Michelangelo's and Cardinal Farnese's dream has been realized, through an ephemeral work that is so suggestive and poetic that it is now impressed forever in the collective imagination. The Farnese Bridge will remain indelible in the memory of those who built it, those who admired it in person, or even only through the images that have travelled globally, through the media and social networks.

A bridge between the ages, between Italy and France, towards Europe and the future. The fruit of the imagination of the French artist Olivier Grossetête, who, in collaboration with the French embassy, and thanks to Webuild's support, was offered to the City of Rome. However, the weather conditions, both on the day of the installation, and in the following days, unfortunately compromised some parts of the work. For safety reasons, it was therefore decided to dismantle it ahead of time on July 15, instead of July 18, with volunteers in a new moment of collective participation, as per the work's overall spirit.
