MILAN, June 10, 2021 - The Webuild Group has begun a COVID-19 vaccination programme on its construction sites in Italy, adhering to a government initiative managed by the country's regions. In this latest effort, the Group confirms its commitment to acting in a social responsible way in the fight against the spread of the virus alongside public institutions to create the necessary conditions to relaunch the economy and create jobs. It immediately made available to the regions its staff and structures, accepting a call to private companies to help lighten the burden on public vaccination centres and contribute to efforts to support the recovery among businesses along the supply chain within the shortest amount of time possible.

The Terzo Valico dei Giovi was the first construction site to participate in the initiative, allowing direct and indirect employees along the supply chain to get vaccinated voluntarily. The offer is being made to those who cannot access the public health system because their homes are too far away. They can get their shot in a safe environment at the Trasta di Genova base camp where trained health personnel are administering the Moderna vaccine.

Ever since lockdown was imposed by countries across the globe, Webuild has had in place an initiative to fight the COVID-19 health emergency and stop the spread of the virus among its employees, and guarantee to communities and clients that strategic projects remained operational. It had a task force of more than 600 people at Group level to enforce and systematically update measures as well as monitor the situation at more than 100 construction sites on five continents in collaboration with all social and economic parties concerned.

The Terzo Valico dei Giovi, which involves an Italian supply chain of highly specialised businesses that together employ nearly 5,000 people, will transform Genoa into an international hub, connecting itself to Milan and Europe according to an intercity rail network model.

The project represents one of Italy's efforts to shift towards sustainable mobility, as it is pursuing in other projects under the Piano Nazionale di Ripresa and Resilienza (National Plan of Recovery and Resilience) to modernise the country's infrastructure and create jobs. Webuild is involved in a number of projects of this kind that are related to the Trans-European Network (TEN-T), aimed at improving railway connections across the continent. For the Scandinavia-Mediterranean Corridor, it is working on the Naples-Cancello and Apice-Hirpinia sections of the high-speed/high-capacity between Naples and Bari; while in Sicily, it is working on Bicocca-Catenanuova section of the Palermo-Catania rail line and another between Messina and Catania.
