On the morning of February 8, 2022, the second work day after the Spring Festival, the ceremony for Weichai (Qingdao) Marine Equipment Manufacturing Center project and the major spring projects in Qingdao West Coast New Area was held. Lu Zhiyuan, Member of the Standing Committee of Shandong Provincial CPC Committee and Secretary of Qingdao Municipal CPC Committee, Zhao Haozhi, Deputy Secretary of Qingdao Municipal CPC Committee and Mayor, Tan Xuguang, CPC Secretary and Chairman of Shandong Heavy Industry Group, Chairman of Weichai Group and other leaders jointly started the project.

　　On December 31, 2021, Qingdao Municipal People's Government and Weichai Group signed a strategic cooperation memorandum. After more than one month, the construction of Weichai (Qingdao) Marine Equipment Manufacturing Center and other projects started, marking that Weichai took Qingdao as the center to build a new industrial cluster of high-end marine equipment on the Shandong Peninsula, and entered the stage of substantial implementation from the planning blueprint. The project will vigorously enhance the development capability of Shandong's marine equipment and make new contributions to the marine innovation of Shandong's province.
