Western Asset Mortgage Defined Opportunity Fund Inc. announced a distribution from short-term capital gains of $0.2214 per common share, a distribution from long-term capital gains of $0.4841 per common share and a distribution from income of $0.7752 per common share for December 2018. These distributions are in addition to the previously declared income distribution of $0.1750 per common share payable December 31, 2018 to shareholders of record as of December 21, 2018. The dividends record date is December 31, 2018, ex-date is December 28, 2018 and payable date is January 31, 2019.
Western Asset Mortgage Opportunity Fund Inc. (the Fund) is a non-diversified, closed-end management investment company. The Fundâs primary investment objective is to provide current income. As a secondary investment objective, the Fund will seek capital appreciation. The Fund seeks to achieve its investment objectives by investing primarily in a diverse portfolio of mortgage-backed securities and mortgage whole loans. Investments in mortgage-backed securities consist primarily of non-agency residential mortgage-backed securities and commercial mortgage-backed securities. The Fundâs investments in mortgage whole loans under normal circumstances will not exceed 20% of its managed assets. The Fund also may invest in other permitted investments, including cash and cash equivalents; Treasury securities; non-mortgage related asset-backed securities (ABS) backed by various asset classes.
