Western Asset Mortgage Defined Opportunity Fund Inc. announced distribution from short-term capital gains of $0.1789 per common share, a distribution from long-term capital
gains of $0.2665 per common share and a distribution from income of $0.0546 per common share for December 2017, payable on January 26, 2018. Record date is December 29, 2017. Ex date is December 28, 2017. These distributions are in addition to the previously declared income distribution of $0.2250 per common share payable December 29, 2017 to shareholders of record as of December 22, 2017.
Western Asset Mortgage Opportunity Fund Inc. (the Fund) is a non-diversified, closed-end management investment company. The Fundâs primary investment objective is to provide current income. As a secondary investment objective, the Fund will seek capital appreciation. The Fund seeks to achieve its investment objectives by investing primarily in a diverse portfolio of mortgage-backed securities and mortgage whole loans. Investments in mortgage-backed securities consist primarily of non-agency residential mortgage-backed securities and commercial mortgage-backed securities. The Fundâs investments in mortgage whole loans under normal circumstances will not exceed 20% of its managed assets. The Fund also may invest in other permitted investments, including cash and cash equivalents; Treasury securities; non-mortgage related asset-backed securities (ABS) backed by various asset classes.
