Wheaton Precious Metals Corp. reported higher profit in the fourth quarter as revenue rose due to an increase in average realized gold equivalent price.

The precious metals streaming company said profit rose to $157.2 million from $77.5 million a year ago. Earnings were 35 cents a share, compared with 17.3 cents a share a year earlier. Adjusted earnings were 33 cents a share, beating analysts' expectations by one cent, per a FactSet poll.

Sales rose to $286.2 million from $223.2 million a year earlier. Analysts were expecting on average $289.3 million in revenue.
