The integrated PTA-PET plant will have the capacity to produce 1.1 million and 1.2 million metric tons per year of PET and PTA, respectively. Upon project completion and start-up in 2024, the plant is expected to be the largest of its kind in the world.

PTA is the main building block for PET. PET is a 100 percent recyclable plastic polymer widely used in commercial applications demanding a lightweight and impact-resistant material. For this reason, it's used in today's consumer goods and packaging industries. It's found in everything from plastic water bottles and food containers to clothing, medical devices, motor vehicles, and electronics.

Under the contracts, we'll provide construction management and general services. The services will be delivered by our field services team based in Houston.

The scope of the construction management contract includes the new PET and PTA facilities. While the general services contract provides support for the installation and maintenance of the construction of temporary facilities.

"Demand for plastics is growing. Corpus Christi's facility will produce products with enhanced durability and recyclability. This facility is key to making sustainable transformation a reality," said Brad Van de Veen, President Americas Fabrication, Field Services and Americas Central at Worley.

"Our partnership with Corpus Christi enables key construction targets to be met due to our breadth of experience on projects of this kind. This project also aligns with our purpose of delivering a more sustainable world."
