WuXi AppTec Co. said its net profit for the second quarter more than doubled, thanks to the resumption of its China operations following the Covid-19 pandemic.

Net profit for the quarter rose from a year earlier to 1.14 billion yuan ($163.0 million), while revenue grew 29% to CNY4.04 billion, the Chinese company said Monday in a preliminary earnings statement.

The company said the resumption of its China operations in the second quarter offset the pandemic's negative impact on the revenue of its U.S. business.

WuXi AppTec provides an integrated pharmaceutical platform for the development and production of new drugs.
