Gary Turner to retire as Managing Director of Xero UK and EMEA

London - 19 July, 2021 -Xero, the global small business platform, today announced that afer 12 years at Xero, Gary Turner will retire from his role as Managing Director UK and EMEA, later this year. He will continue to work with Xero in an advisory role once a new Managing Director has been appointed.

Turner has helped to lead a generational change in British accounting and business management through adoption of cloud technology. He has built Xero's UK business from its infancy in 2009, from a team of three, with only a few hundred customers and £50,000 of annual revenue. Twelve years on, the business has more than 720,000 UK subscribers and £115 million of annual revenue.

Rachael Powell, Xero's Chief Customer Oficer, said: "Through his leadership Gary has helped change the UK small business landscape and was instrumental in establishing Xero's presence in South Africa. Gary has made a positive and lasting impact and we thank him for his considerable eforts and achievements over his 12 year tenure. I'm pleased Gary will continue at Xero in an advisory role as he builds his portfolio career, following his passion for supporting small businesses."

Turner said: "Looking to the future, our business is primed for the next phase of growth, so it's an ideal time to hand the reins to the next leader. Building Xero's business in the UK and South Africa has been the highlight of my career, and there is now a great opportunity for someone new to take up the mantle."

Xero has begun the recruitment process for Turner's successor, with an internal and external recruitment search underway. Xero will provide an update once an appointment has been confirmed. Turner will continue at the helm until that time to ensure the smooth transition of leadership.
