Xiaomi Corp. said it has appointed Alain Lam as its finance chief, effective Oct. 8., as the Chinese smartphone maker recovers from the effects of Covid-19 lockdown measures.

Mr. Lam, 46 years old, will succeed acting Finance Chief Wang Xiang, the company said Wednesday. Mr. Wang was appointed in April as Chew Shou Zi stepped down as chief financial officer after nearly five years.

Mr. Chew remains with the company as president for international operations.

Mr. Lam previously served as managing director and head of technology, media and telecom in Credit Suisse's investment banking and capital markets department in Asia Pacific. He previously worked at Morgan Stanley as a managing director covering equity capital markets for technology, media and telecom in Asia Pacific.

The company on Wednesday also said its profit more than doubled in the second quarter, driven by higher revenue contributions from its main businesses such as smartphones and internet services.
