Yuanta FHC Continues to Rank World No.1 in CSA Diversified Financials, Selected for 4th Consecutive Year on DJSI World & Emerging Markets, a True Sustainability Benchmark

The most authoritative Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) results were released on December 10, Taipei time, and Yuanta Financial Holding Company (FHC) was ranked number one (No. 1) for the second consecutive year in the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) for the group of Diversified Financial Services and Capital Markets among more than 500 companies, setting a new page in history. Yuanta FHC received the highest score in the social dimension and ranked first in fifteen sub-dimensions, including Risk & Crisis Management, Climate Strategy, Occupational Health & Safety, Human Rights, Financial Inclusion, etc. For four consecutive years, the company has been listed as a constituent stock of both the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index and the Dow Jones Sustainability Emerging Markets Index, continuing to shine on the international stage.

From CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) to ESG (Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance) initiatives, the world is paying more and more attention to and participating in sustainability issues, and the scope is getting wider. From small individuals to large corporations and governments, everyone has a responsibility to do their part for the planet. Thus, increasingly stringent CSA evaluation standards encourage companies to adopt a consistent and pragmatic approach to ESG. As an international benchmark enterprise for sustainability, we continue to improve ourselves and our related activities. Yuanta FHC scored the highest overall score in the group and ranked first in the world in 15 out of 24 sub-dimensions, including Materiality, Risk & Crisis Management, Financial Inclusion, Customer Relationship Management, Anti-Crime Policy & Measures, Climate Strategy, Occupational Health & Safety, Human Rights, etc. In total, 21 sub-dimensions ranked in the top 10% worldwide. Yuanta FHC's efforts and achievements in sustainable development are evident to all.

ESG is a part of Yuanta FHC's corporate culture and business strategy. We continue to extend our sustainability influence to our investors, employees, and supplier partners, taking practical actions to build a sustainable financial ecosystem, including passing the Science Based Targets (SBT) carbon reduction review and publishing the first Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) Report to implement green initiatives. We entered a new milestone of green power usage on December 1 this year, after the first official switch of green power supply in 2020. The entire Yuanta Group is expected to use 4 million kilowatt hours (kWh) of green electricity per year and reduce carbon by 2,036 tons, which is about the carbon adsorption capacity of five Daan Forest Parks.

In terms of social engagement, Yuanta FHC cooperates with campuses, social welfare units, medical, health care, and hospice institutions, and uses our operational sites as relay stations for communication to build a safety net of support. We use our volunteer power to engage in social participation and environmental maintenance activities to promote an inclusive, safe, and sustainable living environment. On the eve of the start of school this September, more than 10,000 children were worried about their tuition fees, and Yuanta FHC donated NT$10 million to the charity partner, the Taiwan Fund for Children and Families, in the hope that this would lead to more children going to school without worries.

Yuanta FHC's ESG initiatives have been recognized both domestically and internationally. We have been listed in the FTSE4Good Emerging Indexes for six consecutive years and have been invited by Taiwan's Financial Supervisory Commission to join the Coalition of Movers and Shakers as a 'leading goose' to lead domestic financial institutions and other enterprises to move towards net-zero carbon emissions. In addition, Yuanta FHC was awarded the BSI (British Standards Institution) Sustainability Resilience Award - Pilot Award and the Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Awards' 'Top 10 Sustainable Model Enterprises in Taiwan (Service Industry Group),' demonstrating our outstanding performance in sustainability management.

The DJSI is the world's first index to systematically track the sustainable performance of companies, and is one of the most influential and credible indicators of corporate sustainability in the world. Linked to the CSA, the DJSI measures the governance, economic, environmental, and social dimensions of sustainability for thousands of companies around the world each year, and is a landmark in evaluating and advancing global standards for corporate ESG practices.
