Yum Brands confirmed a data breach earlier this week in a company statement. According to a TechCrunch report, the ransomware attack resulted in stolen company data.

The attack affected "certain information technology systems" and resulted in Yum Brands taking some of its systems offline. As a result, "less that 300" restaurants in the U.K. closed for 24 hours, according to the company's statement.

The Louisville, Kentucky-based franchisor also said that it expects the affected systems to be fully restored in the next couple of days, and it notified federal law enforcement about the attack.

An investigation is ongoing, but the brand said there is "no evidence that customer databases were stolen."

Yum Brands is the parent company to Pizza Hut, Taco Bell and KFC.
