Tipp24 returns to German lottery brokerage
- ZEAL completes announced business model change of the Tipp24 brand
- Tipp24 and Lotto24 official partners of the German Association of State Lottery Companies
- Plan to relocate company's registered office to Hamburg by end of October
(London, 15 October 2019) ZEAL Network SE, the leading online provider of state lotteries in Germany, today returned its former Tipp24 secondary lottery to the German brokerage business. Ten years after Tipp24 launched its secondary lottery business from the UK, due to the statutory ban on brokering online lotteries at the time, Tipp24 is now once again an official partner of the German Association of State Lottery Companies (DLTB) and brokers tickets for Tipp24 customers directly to the German state lotteries.
'We have fully implemented what we announced: as of today, Lotto24 and Tipp24 are reunited in the German brokerage business,' said Dr. Helmut Becker, CEO of ZEAL Network SE. 'We would like to thank the state lotteries and supervisory authorities for their trust and are convinced that we can lead the German lottery safely into the digital future as a partner of the state lottery companies'.
As part of the brokerage activities of the Lotto24.de, Tipp24.com and Tipp24.de brands, ZEAL now generates income without any bookmaking risk of its own. Corresponding customer winnings are now guaranteed by the state and are paid out by the state lotteries.
As a lottery broker, the ZEAL Group also supports a large number of charitable projects in the field of welfare, sport and culture, as well as landmark and environmental protection in Germany. According to DLTB, around 40% of the stakes received by the state lottery companies benefited society as a whole over the past few years in the form of taxes and duties. Lotto24 alone thus supported important social and community projects with EUR 122 million in the 2018 financial year.
After the General Meeting of ZEAL on 25 September 2019 already voted in favour of relocating the company's registered office back to Germany with a majority of 99.9%, nothing now stands in the way of the planned relocation of the registered office from London to Hamburg in October 2019.
