Laconia Resources Limited announced that a large, discrete area of gold anomalism has been identified from the assay results of soil samples taken from the northwest sector of the Kraaipan Gold-Nickel-Copper-PGM Project in southern Botswana. The gold anomalous zone is at least 1.4km long and up to 600m wide, suggesting the target is highly prospective. Importantly, this gold anomalism is spatially associated with priority EM anomaly within the Kraaipan Project tenure, KB01. Laconia plans to follow up this gold anomalism by analysing infill and extension soil samples from this area to better determine the extent of this anomalous zone. These results will then be followed up by the drilling of the KB01 EM target, as well as shallow drilling to vector towards the primary source of gold. Laconia's is currently prioritising several gold and nickel-copper-PGM targets through the analysis of approximately 6,000 regional soil samples across the Kraaipan Project tenure; the assessment of a historic electromagnetic survey (VTEM) that contains seven high priority targets, all of which remain untested; and a geological/structural interpretation of the regional aeromagnetic data to identify the most likely faults/shear zones to be associated with gold mineralisation. Once all these datasets are complete and analysed, the various anomalies/targets will be ranked and then several of the ranked targets will be drilled in fourth quarter of 2017.
