From October 15 to 18, the 2024 (26th) China Mining Conference & Exhibition was held in Tianjin. With the theme of "Promote Mining Cooperation for a Better Future," the conference aims to build consensus on global mining cooperation and promote the prosperity and development of the world's mining industry.
Chen Jinghe, Chairman of Zijin Mining, was invited to attend the conference's opening ceremony and delivered a keynote speech at the main forum on "Challenges and Opportunities for Mining Companies in the New Context." He stated that allocating resources globally was an inevitable choice for world-class mining companies and that it was the responsibility of mining industry professionals to build globally competitive mining companies. He called for global cooperation and joint development to provide the world with green and low-carbon mineral materials.
Chairman Chen Jinghe pointed out that "mining is an industry with great potential." China is the world's largest manufacturing country and the largest consumer of mineral products. China is accelerating the cultivation of new growth drivers. Production of renewable energy, new materials, AI computing power, high-end equipment, etc., has put forward higher requirements for the supply of strategic minerals. In particular, the new energy revolution has become the engine of sustained growth in the global mining industry. Mining industry professionals are responsible for building globally competitive mining companies. Allocating resources globally is an inevitable choice for world-class mining companies. Complying with international rules and upholding high-standard ESG systems are essential requirements for the global operations of mining companies.
Chairman Chen Jinghe said that Zijin Mining is building up its global competitiveness at an increasing speed. Zijin Mining has a solid resource base, the ability to acquire resources at low costs, whole-process self-owned technologies, and management capabilities, which enable effective control of investment and costs. It has developed and built over 30 large-scale mining projects worldwide, becoming a new force for sustained growth among the world's leading mining companies. Zijin Mining is determined to provide materials that improve standards of living in a low-carbon future, foster global competitiveness in line with its global strategy, and continuously increase investment in strategic mineral exploration and development in China and neighboring countries. Zijin Mining will strive to be a "green, high-tech, leading global mining company" by 2028, with its performance in main commodities and operational metrics ranking among the top 3-5 worldwide.
During the conference, Chairman Chen Jinghe held talks with leaders from South Africa, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Zambia, Tajikistan, Turkey, Colombia, Argentina, and other countries.

Zijin Mining Vice President Xie Xionghui, Independent Director Bo Shaochuan, and Vice President Shen Shaoyang were invited to attend a series of high-level forums and promotion meetings, including the Mongolian Mining Special Promotion Conference, the International Mining Rights Trading Forum, and the Domestic Mining Enterprises Overseas Investment Forum.
Zijin Forum, a side event organized by Zijin Mining on the theme of Challenges and Opportunities for Mining Companies to 'Go Global,' received extensive attention from participants at home and abroad. The first half of the forum was hosted by Zheng Youcheng, Board Secretary of Zijin Mining, featuring speeches by Mr. Francois Ballumouane, the Ambassador of the Democratic Republic of the Congo to China, Dr. Mao Jingwen, an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, among others, focusing on the opportunities and challenges of international mining investment. The second half featured a roundtable discussion on global resource mergers and acquisitions.
This conference attracted nearly 10,000 participants from more than 40 countries, regions, and international organizations around the world, and almost 400 domestic and foreign institutions and companies participated in the exhibition.
