Milestone Moment! First Mid-sized and Large-scale Excavators Roll off Production Line in Excavating Machinery Park of ZOOMLION Smart Industry City On December 31, 2020, the rollout ceremony of the first mid-sized and large-scale excavators from the Excavating Machinery Park of Zoomlion Smart Industry City was held at the Changsha High-Tech Industrial Development Zone. With the successful launch of the first product in the excavating machinery park, it has filled the gap in the intelligent manufacturing of large-scale excavators in Hunan Province. On December 31, 2020, the rollout ceremony of the first mid-sized and large-scale excavators from the Excavating Machinery Park of Zoomlion Smart Industry City was held at the Changsha High-Tech Industrial Development Zone. With the successful launch of the first product in the excavating machinery park, it has filled the gap in the intelligent manufacturing of large-scale excavators in Hunan Province. Not only this means that the Zoomlion Smart Industry City has entered a completely new stage of 'construction and production at the same time', but also it represents that there will be a strong support for Zoomlion's excavator sector worth 30 billion yuan.

At the ceremony, which was presided over by Zhou Qingnian, Secretary of the Party Working Committee of the Changsha High-tech Industrial Development Zone, Chen Fei, Vice Governor of Hunan Province, announced the excavator rolled off the assembly line, and Zheng Jianxin, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Changsha Municipal Committee, Mayor of Changsha, and Secretary of the Party Working Committee of Xiangjiang New Area, delivered a speech. The milestone moment was also witnessed by Cong Peimo, Director of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of Hunan Provincial People's Government; relevant leaders of the CPC Changsha Municipal Committee, the Changsha Municipal People's Government, and the Changsha High-tech Industrial Development Zone; Su Zimeng, President of the China Construction Machinery Association; Zhan Chunxin, Chairman and CEO of Zoomlion; the top management team of Zoomlion; customer representatives; and the technicians and workers engaging in the project construction of the Zoomlion Smart Industry City.

According to Zhan Chunxin, fully implementing the concept of 'intelligent, digital and green', the excavator intelligent manufacturing park was planned and designed in accordance with the highest global standards and. It houses a smart factory with the highest levels of intelligence, flexibility, and assembly accuracy in the industry as well as an unmanned 'Black Light Production Line', and intelligently manufactures the ultimate products, in an effort to create superior international competitiveness. Taking this as a fresh start, Zoomlion will make due contributions to building Changsha into a construction machinery capital, building a modern new Hunan, and implementing General Secretary Xi Jinping's call for 'striving to build a national key pacesetter for advanced manufacturing'.

It is understood that the two products rolling off the assembly line are 20 ton and 48 ton excavators, both of which are part of Zoomlion's E-10 series. The 20 ton product model is ZE205E-10, and the vehicle weighs 21.5 tons. It is a mid-sized excavator developed by Zoomlion for earthwork, which features energy conservation, high efficiency, reliability and more. Another large-scale excavating product is ZE485E-10, with the vehicle that weighs 48.5 tons, which is mainly used in mine crushing, loading and transportation, and other working conditions. It is hailed as the 'Hero of the Mining World'.

The two excavating products were manufactured in the intelligent assembly workshop for mid-sized and large-scale excavators at the Excavation Machinery Park of Zoomlion Smart Industry City. Covering an area of 36,000 square meters, the workshop produces excavators ranging from 13.5 tons to 48 tons in weight.

In the intelligent assembly workshop for mid-sized and large-scale excavators, all kinds of sophisticated intelligent equipment can be found everywhere. According to a field technician, 'What we see now is intelligent delivery robots, and unmanned delivery is enabled through 5G, laser navigation and other technologies. There are more than 100 such intelligent delivery robots across the workshop to meet the intelligent delivery of over 9,000 kinds of parts and components. The workshop features delivery free of forklift, with a flexible and intelligent assembly line with the highest proportion of parts and components delivered in a single unit in the industry.' Various industrial robots including the Automatic Guided Vehicle (AGV), the Rail Guided Vehicle (RGV), and coating robots are in place everywhere for the assembly line, making the processes such as getting on, getting off, vehicle integration, and delivering more automated and intelligent.

'Invisible wisdom' is embodied in every step from production and operations to management in the park. According to information, a transparent, digital production and manufacturing process has been achieved through intelligent logistics, intelligent scheduling, industrial AI, Digital Twin, industrial internet, big data platform and other cutting-edge technologies, in combination with the Smart Park Management and Control System in an organic manner, laying the foundation for Smart Factory. This has greatly reduced the R&D cycle, operating costs, and energy consumption per unit output value, and significantly improved production efficiency.

The excavating machinery park will provide strong support for the development of Zoomlion's earthmoving machinery. After the park is put into operation, it will have an annual production capacity of 50,000 intelligent excavators of various types, with an annual output value of 30 billion yuan, and an average output of one excavator every 6 minutes.

Documents show that the Zoomlion Smart Industry City is a world-class lighthouse factory officially launched by Zoomlion in January 2019. It is a national key pacesetter for advanced manufacturing built by Zoomlion in response to the spirit of 'three pacesetters and four new missions'. With the total investment of about 100 billion yuan, the project concentrates its strategic planning for construction in the four main sections of concrete machinery, construction hoisting machinery, aerial work machinery, and excavating machinery, as well as four parts centers, six national innovation platforms, and R&D, test and product incubation bases for smart agricultural machinery, artificial intelligence and others.
