Young talents for the Zumtobel Group: New apprentices start their training in the lighting company
25.09.2019

Dornbirn, Austria - As one of the largest employers in Vorarlberg and with an 'Outstanding Apprentice Programme' the Zumtobel Group is once again supporting young people in starting their career path this year. As of the beginning of September, the international lighting group will be training eight new apprentices at its Dornbirn headquarters in the fields of electrical engineering, mechatronics and IT systems technology.

'We are delighted to be able to accompany these young, motivated people on their way into professional life. They are our qualified specialists of tomorrow. In addition to profound training, it is very important to us to strengthen the personal skills of these young talents,' says Thomas Kresser, Head of Apprenticeship training at the Zumtobel Group, and adds: 'The motivation and joy, with which our apprentices work, show us that our training path is the right way.'

The Zumtobel Group currently trains 54 apprentices and is one of the most important apprentice trainers in the country. In Dornbirn, apprenticeships are offered in the fields of electrical engineering, plastics technology, mechatronics and IT systems technology.

Outstanding Apprentice Programme
In 2018, the Vorarlberg Chamber of Commerce awarded the Zumtobel Group the title of 'Outstanding Apprentice Programme' for the eighth time in succession for its above-average commitment to apprenticeship training. The award is presented every four years. With over 800 apprentices trained since 1964, apprenticeship training has a long tradition and a high priority within the Zumtobel Group.

Since 1980, the Zumtobel Group has also been training girls in technical professions. In addition to Austria's very first female toolmaker in 1984, a further 80 girls have completed their technical apprenticeships at the Zumtobel Group.

Extended training programme
The technical training of the apprentices in the in-house training workshop is also accompanied by competence training. The company's training focuses on further developing each individual's personal skills. Within the framework of workshops, training courses and projects, young people have the opportunity to develop their personal strengths and skills.
