Daikin Industries,Ltd. reported consolidated earnings results for the nine months ended December 31, 2018. For the period, net sales were JPY 1,875,175 million against JPY 1,722,440 million a year ago. Operating profit was JPY 213,845 million against JPY 201,173 million a year ago. Profit for the period was JPY 155,377 million against JPY 158,901 million a year ago. Earnings per share were JPY 512.54 against JPY 526.46 a year ago. Diluted earnings per share were JPY 512.16 against JPY 526.09 a year ago.
For the year ending March 31, 2019, on consolidated basis, the company expects net sales of JPY 2,480,000 million, operating profit of JPY 270,000 million, ordinary profit of JPY 268,000 million, profit attributable to owners of parent of JPY 180,000 million and EPS of JPY 615.52.
Daikin Industries is a diversified group organized around 3 areas of activity:
- manufacturing of air conditioning and refrigeration equipment and systems (89.6% of net sales);
- manufacturing of fluorinated chemicals (8%): polymers, elastomers, solvents, coatings, additives, lubricants, etc.;
- other (2.4%): primarily sale of hydraulic equipment.
Net sales are distributed geographically as follows: Japan (23.7%), China (16.7%), Asia and Oceania (15.2%), Americas (24.1%), Europe (14.5%) and other (5.8%).
