Responsible, transparent, and effective environmental management is integral to Finnair's business agenda and leadership model. The company implements standardized environmental management practices and strives to apply the best practices in the aviation sector. Finnair's environmental management system follows the principles of continuous improvement. The scope of the Finnair Environmental Management System covers flight operations, corporate buildings, catering functions, and aircraft maintenance services.

Finnair is committed to complying with environmental and energy regulation, and other applicable obligations while also anticipating developments in these fields.

Finnair acknowledges, continuously assesses, and responds to its environmental aspects and impacts. Clearly defined objectives are set within Finnair's operational management system to improve its environmental performance and energy efficiency. The company monitors, assess and reviews its performance as well as collects and analyses data systematically on its impacts to the environment.

Finnair is committed to protect the natural environment, minimise the use of energy, and striving to minimise release of waste and harmful substances to the environment.

Finnair is committed to the airline industry's common goal of carbon neutral growth from 2020 onwards. In addition, the company is moving decisively towards carbon neutral flying by 2045 and is committed to having carbon neutral ground operations in the Helsinki-Vantaa Airport area (Scope 1 and 2) from 2023 forward.

Finnair shall enforce circular economy principles and waste hierarchy in its functions; reduce, reuse, recycle, recover, dispose.

Finnair aims to protect biodiversity and ecosystems and aims to minimise its effect on those. We shall not tolerate illegal wildlife trade and we shall promote air industry's activities against it.

We engage in an active and open dialogue with our stakeholders on environmental and energy efficiency issues relating to our operations, as well as on our goals and achievements.

Together with its personnel, and key external stakeholders Finnair proactively surveys the environmental concerns and viewpoints.

Together with its partners, Finnair explores possibilities for the sustainable deployment of renewable energy and sustainable aviation fuels.

Finnair's Board of Directors and Executive Board are strongly committed to executing this policy and providing the necessary competent resources for its implementation.
