Notice on Revision of Application for Pre-operational Confirmation of

Shimane Nuclear Power Station Unit 2

1. Outline of Revision

On September 11, 2023, we have submitted an application for pre-operational confirmation, including a process of an operator's pre-operational inspections, to the Nuclear Regulation Authority (NRA) for the restart of commercial operation of Shimane Unit 2. (This matter was disclosed in "Notice on Submission of Application for Pre-operational Confirmation of Shimane Nuclear Power Station Unit 2," dated September 11, 2023.)

The safety construction work currently underway is expected to be prolonged due to congestion with the facility inspections*1 in preparation for the restart and thus we decide to revise the completion date from May 2024 to October 2024 as well as the process of an operator's pre-operational inspections*2. Accordingly, we have revised the content of the application for pre-operational confirmation and submitted to the NRA on April 30, 2024.

*1 Considering the extended shutdown period of Shimane Unit 2, inspections of each facility and equipment are being conducted in preparation for restarting operations.

*2 In the process of the revised operator's pre-operational inspections, the processes related to the restart are scheduled as follows.

2. Impact on Financial Results

We have announced the forecasts of financial result for the year ending March 31, 2025 on April 30, 2024 with the consideration of the revision in process resulting in an increase of material costs due to a decrease in nuclear capacity factor.

We will continue to take all possible measures to ensure the safety construction work as well as to respond appropriately to the pre-operational confirmation conducted by the NRA, with the aim to create the power station that provides peace of mind to everyone in the local community.

At Shimane Unit 2, the construction of various safety measure facilities based on the new regulatory requirements is underway, including new installation and modification work, in accordance with the construction plan approved on August 30, 2023.

Before these facilities can be put into use, they must undergo operator's pre-operational inspections*1 by Chugoku Electric Power and a pre-operational confirmation*2, which should be conducted during inspection periods (1) to (3) shown below, by the Nuclear Regulation Authority (NRA).

*1 The inspections are carried out by the operator to check that the construction work is proceeding in accordance with the approved contents (materials, dimensions, functions, performance, etc.) of the construction plan.

Some of the operator's pre-operational inspections for Shimane Unit 2 that can be conducted prior to the approval of the construction plan have been started in advance since March 2023.

*2 The confirmation is conducted by the NRA to check that the operator's pre-operational inspections are conducted properly and completed. This is done by witnessing the operator's inspections and by confirming records.

In this application for pre-operational confirmation, we revised the process of operator's pre- operational inspections as follows.
