Date:2023-12-09

Hsinchu, Taiwan, December 9, 2023 - Vanguard International Semiconductor Corporation (VIS) announced today that the Company has been selected as a component of the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI-World) for the third consecutive year. VIS is ranked second in the global semiconductor manufacturing-service industry. In addition, VIS has also been consecutively selected as a component of the Dow Jones Sustainability Emerging Markets Index (DJSI-Emerging Markets).

VIS was first selected as a Dow Jones Sustainability Index component in 2021, and the Company's performance has steadily grown even better since then. The evaluation covered 26 different factors across three major dimensions: Governance & Economy; Environment; and Society. VIS got a full score or received the highest score in the industry in the following areas: Supply Chain Management; Tax Strategy; Innovation Management; Product Quality and Recall Management; Waste; Product Stewardship; and Customer Relationship Management.

VIS implements innovative solutions in product design, process management, and supply chain management through two main strategies: "Green Manufacturing" and "Green Supplier Management". VIS also seeks to maximize energy and resource efficiencies. VIS is the first semiconductor company in Taiwan to commit to the 100% renewable electricity goal (RE100) by 2040. In addition, VIS has set the goal of Net Zero Emissions by 2050, and has installed a photovoltaic solar power system within the fab. This demonstrates VIS' spirit of self-sufficiency in our energy usage.

To further implement sustainable management, beginning in 2023, VIS has incorporated ESG-related indicators into senior management performance assessments. VIS has also formulated new policies, including the Commitment to Biodiversity and Zero Deforestation, the Climate Change Statement, and the VIS Statement Regarding Zero Tolerance of Unlawful Infringement in the Workplace. VIS has incorporated the Commitment to Biodiversity and Zero Deforestation within its Supplier Code of Conduct, and made appropriate amendments to its Corporate Governance Practice Principles and to the VIS Environmental, Safety, and Health Policy.

"As a leading global specialty IC foundry service provider," said VIS Chairman Leuh Fang, "we uphold growth and sustainability as two beliefs of equal importance. VIS integrates the ESG spirit into our day-to-day operations, and joins hands with upstream and downstream partners to respond concretely to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Looking ahead, VIS will continue our efforts to cultivate the value of sustainability, create a sustainable vision for social common good, and create even more positive impact for society."

VIS' active efforts at implementing sustainability have received significant recognition, both at home and abroad. Not only has VIS been consistently selected as a component of both the DJSI-World and DJSI-Emerging Markets indexes, but VIS has also been selected as a constituent of the FTSE4Good Index Series for eight consecutive years. VIS has ranked among the top 5% of TPEx-listed companies in Taiwan's Corporate Governance Evaluation for nine years in a row. VIS has also been honored as a Top Ten Domestic Corporation in the Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Awards; been honored with a CommonWealth Magazine Excellence in Corporate Social Responsibility award and a Global Corporate Sustainability Award; and received good scores in the Carbon Disclosure Project's Climate Change assessments.
