The Canadian dollar strengthened against the greenback on Thursday, and the yield on benchmark government debt climbed.
The loonie was trading 0.1% higher at C$1.3834 to the greenback, or 72.29 U.S. cents, after trading in a range of 1.3831 to 1.386.
Canadian government 10-year bond yields rose 0.5 basis points to 3.469%. The yield on similar U.S. government benchmark debt rose to 4.2951%.
U.S. May crude futures rose $4.96 to $99.37 a barrel on Thursday.
