STORY: Over 1,000 filmmakers, actors and industry professionals have signed an open letter opposing Paramount Skydance's proposed acquisition of Warner Bros Discovery.

The letter, released on Monday, stated that the move would further consolidate an already concentrated media landscape, reducing competition.

It said the tie-up would result in fewer opportunities for creators, fewer jobs across the production ecosystem, higher costs, and less choice for audiences.

Among the signatories were actors Jane Fonda, Joaquin Phoenix, Mark Ruffalo, Ben Stiller and Kristen Stewart.

The proposed $110 billion takeover would bring together two of Hollywood's largest studios and content libraries.

It would also unite streaming platforms Paramount+ and HBO Max.

Regulators in the U.S. and Europe are expected to scrutinize the deal, weighing its impact on consumers and the creative community.

Paramount and Warner Bros did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
