Preliminary North American Class 8 heavy-duty truck orders reached 37,200 units in March, a decrease from the 46,200 units recorded the previous month, but a 126 percent increase year-over-year, according to the latest data from ACT Research.
In January and February, orders rose by 20 percent and 156 percent respectively, based on previous figures.
"Following one of the best Class 8 order months in history in February, it is hardly surprising that preliminary March orders moderated, but only slightly, to a still very robust 37,200 units," said Carter Vieth, analyst at ACT Research.
