After several difficult months, Mobileye regained some color on Wall Street on Wednesday, thanks to the launch of a new system-on-chip (SoC) technology that should boost sales.

The stock, which last night posted an annual decline of 30%, jumped by more than 6% in early trading today, following the presentation of EyeQ6, its new physical and software driver assistance system (ADAS).

The Israeli computer vision specialist, part of the Intel Group, states that EyeQ6L should be installed in some 46 million vehicles over the next few years.

It will be followed by another model, the EyeQ6 High, an even more advanced system scheduled for launch in early 2025.

A veritable central computer, the EyeQ chip performs a detailed analysis of the visual field to anticipate possible collisions with other vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists, animals, debris and obstacles, with a view to emergency braking.

Featuring an eight-megapixel camera and a 120-degree field of view, the EyeQ6L is claimed to be 4.5 times more powerful than the EyeQ4M, its previous-generation processor, for half the size and identical levels of power consumption.
