(Alliance News) - Shares in Playtech PLC leapt on Monday after it announced the expansion of its iPoker network into the Czech Republic, in partnership with Fortuna Entertainment Group.

Shares in Playtech rose 13% to 510.00 pence in London on Monday.

The Isle of Man-based gambling software development company said the launch represents a "significant milestone" for both Playtech and Fortuna, as it introduces poker into the Fortuna Entertainment Group for the first time.

Fortuna is a leading omni-channel betting and gaming operator in Central and Eastern Europe. It started in the Czech Republic and its footprint now extends to the Slovakian, Polish, Romanian, and Croatian markets.

Through Playtech’s iPoker network, Fortuna’s players in the Czech Republic will now have access to a diverse range of poker games, Playtech said.

Playtech said the iPoker network has experienced explosive growth over the past few years, and said the addition of Fortuna will contribute to the continuation of this trend.

Playtech said it aims to tap into the potential of the vibrant Czech market, which it noted was a prominent hub for live poker tournaments in Europe.

Group Head of Gaming & Commercial Strategy at Fortuna Entertainment Group Myke Foster said: "Poker has a significant presence in the Czech market with an established player base and we are impressed by the quality of Playtech's poker product. We see tremendous potential in this product and are confident it will deliver an exceptional and modern user experience to our customer base."
