Webzen Inc. reported earnings results for the quarter and year to date ended September 30, 2017. For the quarter, the company reported sales of KRW 35,838 million compared to KRW 48,631 million reported in the same period last year. Operating income was KRW 7,526 million against KRW 9,920 million reported last year. Profit from continuing operation before corporate income tax was KRW 8,295 million against KRW 10,975 million reported last year. Net income attributable to the shareholders of the parent company was KRW 2,926 million against KRW 7,888 million reported last year.
For the year to date, the company reported sales of KRW 122,700 million compared to KRW 162,550 million reported in the same period last year. Operating income was KRW 29,630 million against KRW 41,615 million reported last year. Profit from continuing operation before corporate income tax was KRW 32,166 million against KRW 43,069 million reported last year. Net income attributable to the shareholders of the parent company was KRW 20,456 million against KRW 31,715 million reported last year.
Webzen Inc is a Korea-based company mainly engaged in the development and publishing of games. The Company operates its business through two segments. The Game Development and Service Intellectual Property License segment develops and sells mobile games such as Mu Origin 1 and Mu Origin 2 and online games such as Mu Online, R2, Shot Online, and Mu Online H5. In addition, the Segment is engaged in game intellectual property(IP) alliance business of Awakening, Spiritual Sanctuary, Archangel Earth Sword H5 and others. The Game Development and Service and Other segment develops and sells other online games and mobile games. The Company sells its products in domestic and overseas markets such as Japan and China.
