French laptop manufacturer Metavisio warned on Monday that its sales target for 2022 would not be met due to a market context deemed 'very difficult'.

Although its 2022 sales target has not yet been finalized at this stage, it is expected - according to preliminary data - to be in the region of 30-32 million euros, a far cry from the 70 million euro target that was communicated to the market last June.

In its press release, the Group cites a 'very difficult' 2022 for the entire IT industry, with a general decline in sales worldwide.

According to research firm GFK, the size of the PC market will contract by 28% in Europe in 2022.

Metavisio recalls that the IT industry had experienced two exceptional years in 2020 and 2021, mainly due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the massive development of telecommuting.

Knowing that retail customers have tended to overstock their products, a large part of the sales forecast for Q4 2022 has been reported in the first half of 2023 due to the postponement of orders, it points out in its press release.

Nevertheless, Metavisio expects its Ebitda to decline by just 13% to 5.5 million euros in 2022, leading to a significant improvement in its Ebitda margin, which would increase from 11% in 2021 to 18% in 2022.

The company's net income should also remain positive in 2022.

Following these announcements, the share price fell by over 6% on Monday morning, one of the biggest declines on a Paris market up 1.1%.
