Glatfelter is now, afterears of development, launching, a 100 % biobasased and home-compostable airlaid material at the trade fair INDEX23 in Geneva. By utilizing OrganoClick's biobased and home-compostable binder, the OC-Biobinder, traditional fossil-based binders in the material have been replaced. The commercialization will start Second Quarter 2023.

Glatfelter and OrganoClick have collaborated for nearly five years in the development of the new airlaid material. OrganoClick's biobased and home-compostable binder, which replaces the fossil-based binder in the traditional material, is made of raw materials from side streams in the food industry originating from wheat, corn, lemons and shrimp shells. The new airlaid material can be used for tabletop products but also for several other applications.

The Company's nonwovens can be found in products such as personal care and hygiene products, food and beverage filtration, critical cleaning products, medical and personal protection, packaging products, as well as home improvement and industrial applications.
