Ameristar Kansas City Brings Country Stars, Comedy and Hip-Hop Acts to the Star Pavilion in March

KANSAS CITY, MO-Ameristar Kansas City brings top entertainment acts to the Star Pavilion in March, including hip hop and R&B artists Color Me Badd and Tone Loc, country star Clint Black, comedian Sinbad, country rock group Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, acoustic band 3 Doors Down and comedic duo Gallagher and Artie Fletcher. March entertainment will also feature free, live entertainment at Depot #9 every Friday and Saturday.

Color Me Badd

Color Me Badd formed in 1985 releasing their debut R&B album 'C.M.B.,' selling more than six million copies worldwide and earning certified triple platinum status in the United States. The group has released a string of chart-topping hits, including three No. 1 singles and 17 Top 20 hits like 'I Adore Mi Amor,' 'All 4 Love,' 'Thinkin' Back,' 'Slow Motion' and more. Throughout the group's career, Color Me Badd has sold more than 12 million records in the United States and is known internationally in various countries, including Australia, Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand and the United Kingdom. Color Me Badd has won numerous awards, including an American Music Award, Soul Train Music Award and a Smash Hits Poll Winners Award in the United Kingdom.

Tone Loc

Rap pioneer Tone Loc was the second rap act ever to reach No. 1 on the Billboard album charts. His album 'Loc'd After Dark' of 1989 spawned the hit singles 'Wild Thing' and 'Funky Cold Medina,' which remain Loc's best-known hits. After recording his 1991 follow-up album, 'Cool Hand Loc,' the artist put his familiar raspy voice to work on TV and in film, landing roles on the TV series 'Roc' and in films, including 'Ace Ventura: Pet Detective' with comedic actor Jim Carrey and the animated sci-fi epic 'Titan A.E.'

Clint Black

Clint Black burst into the country music scene with the debut of his 1989 album 'Killin' Time.' The album produced four No. 1 singles, including the hits 'A Better Man,' 'Nobody's Home,' 'Killin' Time' and 'Walkin' Away.' That same year, the album received the Academy of Country Music Award for Album of the Year and Black was named Top Male Vocalist. He continued his success into the 1990s and 2000s, recording 22 chart-topping singles, including 'A Good Run of Bad Luck,' 'Loving Blind,' 'When I Said I Do' and 'Where Are You Now.'

Black has enjoyed success outside of the world of country music, having appeared in the feature films 'Maverick,' 'Going Home,' 'Anger Management' and 'Flicka 2.' He's also made television appearances on 'The Larry Sanders Show' and 'Las Vegas.'

Sinbad

Legendary actor and comedian Sinbad has been a force on the comedy circuit for more than three decades, making numerous appearances on the stage as well as the big screen. A Michigan native, Sinbad launched his career in the 1980s after making several appearances on the variety show 'Star Search.'

His first television role came in 1987 when he starred in the sitcom 'A Different World.' By 1993, his popularity led him to star in his own series 'The Sinbad Show.' Sinbad made his film debut playing Andre Krimm in 'Necessary Roughness' and also had leading roles in 'Jingle All the Way, 'Houseguest,' 'First Kid' and 'Good Burger.' Later in his career, Sinbad made appearances on several television shows, including 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia' and 'Celebrity Apprentice.'

Sinbad's quintessential comedy style is built on stories that include exchanges with family, friends and strangers, as well as the time he spent in the United States Air Force. He also takes the trials and tribulations of audience members and pokes fun, creating an interactive comedy experience.

Comedy Central named Sinbad one of its top-100 comedians of all time and featured him in a special program in 2010. He received a National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Image Award two years in a row for his annual HBO Special, 'Sinbad's '70s Soul Music Festival.'

Nitty Gritty Dirt Band

Formed more than 50 years ago, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band has been impressing fans with their classic country rock sound. Throughout the years, the band has released several multi-platinum and gold-selling records as well as a string of Top 10 hits, including 'Fishin' in the Dark' and 'Mr. Bojangles.' Nitty Gritty Dirt Band has also received multiple Grammy, IBMA and CMA awards and nominations.

In addition to their many achievements, the group's groundbreaking album 'Will the Circle Be Unbroken' was inducted into the U.S. Library of Congress as well as the Grammy Hall of Fame. In 2010, their hit 'Mr. Bojangles' was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame, and the band's PBS TV special on their 50th Anniversary show went on to receive an Emmy Award in 2016.

Nitty Gritty Dirt Band continues to bring their high-energy performances and iconic country rock hits to venues across the nation.

3 Doors Down Acoustic

Friday, March 29

The multi-platinum-selling rock band 3 Doors Down will bring their 'Back Porch Jam' Tour to Depot #9, featuring an acoustic interpretation of the band's top hits and deep album cuts.

Audiences will enjoy listening to the group's acoustic versions of their best-loved hits like 'Kryptonite,' 'When I'm Gone,' 'Here Without You,' 'Let Me Go,' 'It's Not My Time' and more.

Gallagher & Artie Fletcher

Gallagher

Best-known for his signature 'Sledge-O-Matic' sketch, consisting of him smashing a watermelon with a large wooden mallet, Gallagher has impressed countless fans with his unique humor as one of the first comedians to be featured on Comedy Central and other televised stand-up comedy specials.

Throughout his career, Gallagher has performed in 14 Showtime specials and more than 3,500 live shows, earn fame and recognition across the world.

Artie Fletcher

Stand-up comedian Artie Fletcher is known as a veteran in the comedy scene who has enjoyed major success throughout his career as an entertainer. His comedic style has earned him premier TV spots on popular shows like Law and Order as well as late night shows with Conan O'Brien and David Letterman.

Fletcher has also performed his dynamic comedy act in venues across the country, including in Las Vegas, Atlantic City, Radio City Music Hall, the Toyota Comedy Festival, Universal Orlando and more

All shows begin at is 8:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online at ticketmaster.com; or in-person at the Ameristar Gift Shop for five dollars off the ticket price with a B Connected Card. Tickets may also be purchased the day of the show (depending upon availability) at the venue box office.

Depot #9

Open on Friday and Saturday nights, Depot #9 offers a lively environment in its venue modeled after a train station with high ceilings, a wood-and-brick bar and a Pullman railroad car with comfortable chairs and antique furniture.
