ROGERS COMMUNICATIONS INC. Rogers recognizes National Day of Truth and Reconciliation
Today, our teams came together to wear orange in recognition of the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation (commonly known as Orange Shirt Day). Wearing an orange shirt recognizes the harm the residential school system had on Indigenous children's self-esteem and well-being, and shows a commitment to the principle that every child matters.
Recognized annually since 2013, the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation is an opportunity to continue the discussion of the generational impacts of residential schools across Canada. From around 1880 until 1996, an estimated 150,000 Indigenous children attended a residential school, with an estimated 80,000 survivors living today.
We are proud to recognize this important day with our teams, as we continue to build an inclusive culture together. Check out the photo gallery below of our people who wore orange today!
