Adding another feather in the cap of SJVN, Chairman & Managing Director, Sh. Nand Lal Sharma as a historic milestone for the development of Hydel Energy, today inaugurated the Office of Jangi Thopan Powari HEP (780 MW) at Reckong Peo, Distt. Kinnaur, Himachal Pradesh.

Deputy Commissioner, Kinnaur, IAS, Sh. Gopal Chand, Chief Conservator of Forest, Rampur, Sh. Anil Thakur, DFO, Kinnaur, Sh. Chaman Lal, DSP, Sh. Amar Singh, Chief Medical Officer, Sh. Padam Negi, XEN PWD, XEN IPH, XEN HPSEB graced the occasion.

On this occasion HOP, JTP HEP/LHEP, Sh. R.L. Negi, accompanied with HOP, NJHPS, Sh. Sanjeev Sood, HOP and RHPS, Sh. Suresh Thakur were also present.

Chairman & Managing Director, Sh. Nand Lal Sharma, visited the Project sites of JTP HEP at Jangi and Powari undertook detailed tour of project sites and also interacted with the local people.

While addressing he said that the Government of Himachal Pradesh have allotted 780 MW Jangi Thopan Powari Hydro Electric Project to SJVN on Build, Own, Operate & Transfer (BOOT) basis for a period of 70 years. The DPR of this project will be prepared and completed by September, 2021 and the construction works for the project will be started after March, 2022 and the completion period for the project is of 66 months.

He sought the cooperation from Govt. of Himachal Pradesh, District Administration and all the concerned Departments for timely completion of the project in the interest of the people. He further said that SJVN has necessary infrastructure in the area and this will be a key factor for completing this project on fast track.

Sh. Sharma assured the local people that every possible step will be taken for the development of the local area through CSR initiatives of SJVN. In this direction, a MoU have already been signed with Helpage India for deployment of a Mobile Medical Unit in the Project vicinity to provide free health services to the local people. He further assured that, SJVN would contribute in overall development of the Project Affected Area.

Hydro Power is the core strength of SJVN and the Company has the distinction of implementing India's largest 1500 MW Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Power Station in Himachal Pradesh, which is down stream of this project. Besides, executing projects in Himachal Pradesh, SJVN is executing hydro projects in Nepal, Bhutan and Uttarakhand. SJVN has also forayed into the field of Renewable Energy, Power Transmission and Thermal. SJVN has envisaged Internal Growth Targets and is vigorously marching forward for achieving installed capacity of 5000 MW by 2023, 12000 MW by 2030 and 25000 MW by year 2040.
