Blinken in Cairo for Gaza ceasefire push

STORY: Blinken also met Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi where they discussed negotiations to secure an immediate ceasefire for at least six weeks in the war between Israel and Hamas and the release of all hostages kidnapped by the Palestinian militant group, according to State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller.

The top U.S. diplomat is in Egypt after visiting Saudi Arabia a day earlier, as part of his latest Middle East tour. He is due to meet foreign ministers from Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Jordan, as well as the Emirati international cooperation minister and the general secretary of the Palestine Liberation Organization's (PLO) executive committee, the Egyptian foreign ministry said.
