Cryptocurrency platform Gemini on Thursday said it raised $400 million in a growth equity funding round led by Morgan Creek Digital.

The round, which represents Gemini's first-ever outside financing, saw participation from Newflow Partners, Marcy Venture Partners and the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, among others, the company said.

Gemini, which was launched in 2015 by Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, said the latest round values it at $7.1 billion.

Gemini said it "allows customers to buy, sell, store, and earn cryptocurrencies."
